Magic on the False Creek Ferry
There is a real sense of honour when you get asked to capture a special event or memorable moment, and it turns out that feeling is amplified when you are asked to do that for people you call friends in a location really close to your own heart.
Hannah, Jason, Des and I lived one block from each other in the West End for years. Our evenings and weekends were filled with local adventures; Walking to the markets, enjoying the local restaurants, and regularly taking the False Creek Ferries across to Granville island.
For those who are unfamiliar: False Creek Ferries are a long-standing institution in downtown Vancouver. A recognisable pillar of the community, some may say. So... imagine my excitement when I got a message from Hannah asking if we'd be interested in doing an engagement photoshoot for her and Jason... on one of the ferries!
Des and I immediately agreed to be the photographers for the day.
Logistics went smoothly and soon everything was booked and ready to go. Soon after that, it was the day of the shoot. The weather was perfect, the outfits curated, the cameras ready to go (thanks, GearBase!), and the four of us met up and walked down to the Aquatic Centre pier once again.
There, at the end of the dock, with a smile and a boat, was Saul from False Creek Ferries - ready to charter Cindy Lou and putter us where we wanted to go for the morning.
What followed was an hour out on the water, surrounded by picture-perfect vistas, laughing and taking photos together along the way.
Just look at these beautiful moments, and you should get a sense of what a great day it was.
